FATHER’S DAY WOULD BE A LOT HARDER WITHOUT MY AWESOME HUSBAND.
There is nothing better than a great Dad. He’s there when you need him. Look at this handsome guy. He’s a straight shooter with advice. He’s a shoulder to cry on when things are shitty. And most of all he’s your BIGGEST fan – You know, gushing and loud in a TMI please keep it down kind of way.
Above: My Dad, my little brother and ME.
Those are the little BIG things I miss the most about my Dad. He’s been gone for 22 years this year and I miss him every day. He would never dance around your feelings and always told you how to do things the right way not the easiest way. He was always LOUD. I always thought he was hard of hearing but he was just passionate about what he liked and how he felt. The thing I miss the most above all the other things, is when I doubted myself – he made me feel dumb because he told me that I could do anything. ANYTHING. The sky was wide open with possibilities. When he died, no one cheered for me like that. I missed that so much. I really felt lost, until I met my husband. He loves BIG. He always cheers for me, really LOUD. And he’s a straight shooter giving me solid advice when I’d prefer to keep my head in the clouds. He believes in all my wild ideas and always finds the most perfect map to lead me just where I wanted to go. I know my Dad sent him to me, because he’s exactly what I needed in my life.
And BEST of all, he’s such a great Dad to all four of our babies. He doesn't just teach them how, he teaches them why. He is LOUD and passionate about what he likes and who he loves. He is such a great example for them every day. And that makes me so happy.
While Father’s day is hard, it would be a lot harder without this guy to fill every day with adventure, laughter and love.
Happy Father’s Day. I hope you are blessed enough to spend this Day with your Dad or your husband. And for all the Mom’s who have be both Mom and Dad, you are loved twice as much.
